✨ Christmas Cards Still Matter… ✨
As you can probably tell, I am an unabashed champion of traditions and the thoughtful ways of yesteryear. There is something deeply comforting—almost grounding—about slowing down long enough to do something with intention.
I find true joy in the effort behind meaningful gestures, and I like to believe that by keeping certain traditions alive, we add a bit of warmth to a world that often rushes right past them.

✉️ A Simple Tradition Worth Defending
Sending Christmas cards is one of those simple pleasures quietly fading away, often dismissed with the usual excuses:
Too much effort. Too busy. Too expensive. No one does this anymore…
I stand firmly in defense of this age-old tradition. Few things allow us to touch the lives of relatives, friends, acquaintances—and even ourselves—quite like taking the time to write a heartfelt note.

📬 More Than Just Mail
There is a special kind of joy in opening the mailbox and finding something other than a bill or a marketing flyer. Holding a card, reading kind words, and feeling a “hug in paper form” is not something we should allow to become extinct.
Humans experience so much in a lifetime, and if we’re lucky enough to have around 75 Christmases—considering the first few and last few may blur—receiving a warm holiday hello surely beats a Visa bill every single time.

❤️ Staying Connected Matters
I’ve always believed it’s a gift to receive updates on the joys and sorrows of people we care about. A note sharing illness gives me the chance to pray and wish someone well. A card celebrating milestones or family accomplishments gives me the opportunity to smile and celebrate alongside them.
Staying connected—especially during the holidays—matters more than we realize.

☕ A Card From the Heart
Choosing a Christmas card from your heart is the key. Over the years, I’ve searched endlessly for tea-themed holiday cards (they are becoming heartbreakingly rare). When I can’t find one—or make one myself—I always include a holiday tea bag.
My hope is simple: that each recipient takes a quiet moment to pause, sip, and breathe during the season of peace.

🎄 A Little Holiday Tradition
A fun story: a dear college friend—who loves Christmas just as much as I do—started a friendly contest decades ago. The rules were simple: Christmas cards had to be mailed on December 1st, and whoever received theirs first had to report it immediately.
Over the years, this led to midnight mailbox drop-offs, USPS mishaps, dramatic winning streaks, and plenty of laughter. Life eventually paused the contest—but when it returned, it carried even more meaning than before. Proof that traditions grow richer with time.

✨ The Heart of It All
The moral of the story is simple:
Never miss an opportunity to celebrate Christmas by letting the people you like and love know you’re thinking of them.
As the year comes to a close, a simple card can carry warmth, comfort, and connection far beyond its envelope.
Christmas cards still matter—and always will.
With warmth and holiday cheer,
